Car history: |
My Father (Paul Mata) purchased the corvette in April of 1965 from Harry May in Monroe Michigan. The 1st owner of the 1964 corvette would order a new corvette every year. He had ordered his 1965 corvette and was taking delivery of the car when my father was at the dealership. the mechanics were swapping the knock off wheels from the 64 corvette with the steel wheels from the 1965. My farther asked the salesman the reason for the swap and the salesman said that the 1965 had been ordered with knock off rims but the car was not shipped with them so, the previous owner swapped the rims. The 64 corvette has remained the same since my father purchased the car. The side pipes were added in approximately 1967 (purchased over the counter at Harry May) due to the corvette needing an exhaust system. If repairs were needed my farther would have the original parts rebuilt to maintain the correct numbers for the car. He added things to the car that he wanted, a white convertible top (original hard top only) and power antenna. All was original GM over the counter parts (No After Market). The 1964 corvette has been in our family since its purchase in 1965. |
